les miserables

I attended the world premiere of Les Miserables on Wednesday. It was possibly the coldest and windiest day in London so far (though luckily it didn't rain), and when I got to the venue in the morning, some people had already camped out since the night before! I don't blame them for wanting to secure the best spots as this was definitely the biggest premiere I had ever been to. By 11am the queue of fans had filled up Leicester Square and security had to move half of them off to another street and continue the line there. I was very impressed with the event organization though, by midday they had sorted out all the props, lighting, stage, and barrier areas and they let us in 30 at a time so we could spread out comfortably. The event started at around 5pm with the host Michael Hall introducing it and then proceeding to interview some of the fans (including me yaay). Celebrity arrivals started around 5.15pm and if you know me personally (or maybe even not) you will know who I was most excited to see. Yes I've been a huge fan of Eddie Redmayne since I saw him in a small Australian film called Like Minds in 2006 and I'm so happy he is starting to achieve more recognition as I think he is one of the most talented young actors out there. I have met him twice before but it always continues to amaze me how extremely down to earth he is, even in this instance when the atmosphere wass manic and there were fans, press, and photographers calling his name from left, right, and centre. If you haven't seen any of his movies, I recommend you check at least one of them out because you will not be disappointed. The rest of the cast, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Samantha Banks, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter, all walked the red carpet too. At the end of it we all enjoyed a wonderful night and I can't wait until the film hits theatres.
