Avalanches

Topshop parka, jumper and dress / Agyness Deyn x Doc Marten creepers

I love when it snows because I grew up in Australia and never experienced it there. My new neighbours all stare at me when I throw my parka on first thing in the morning and run outside with no apparent motive other than to stand amidst the snowfall. I know London doesn't have it as bad as some other parts of Europe and perhaps I'll tire of it once I've lived with it for years but in the meantime I have absolutely no complaints.

I'll leave you with a song perfect for cold days, by my favourite artist IAMX.
Hope you're all having a wonderful Easter weekend.

Holographic nail polish

I'm obsessed with all things holographic at the moment so naturally I had to pick up this nail polish on my last visit to Topshop. I'd never tried this type of polish before so I was curious as to how it would apply and appear once painted on. This shade is called 'Winterfrost' and in the bottle it looks like fine iridescent glitter particles but as you can see on the nails it definitely transfers to give more of a 'holographic effect' where the particles change colour in a rainbow gradient when light hits it. It's difficult to photograph this polish and do it justice, it really is stunning without being too flashy at the same time. The glitter is so miniscule that from a normal distance it simply looks like a lovely silver metallic shade with a rainbow sheen to it. The formulation is not any different from Topshop's other polishes, it's very easy to apply and goes on opaque with two coats (I topped mine off with a layer of Seche Vite). I highly suggest going into your local Topshop and seeing this in person. I'm looking forward to trying more holographic shades from different brands.

Have you tried holographic nail polish? Do you have any recommendations?

Just what I imagined

Miss Selfridge coat / Topshop beanie & skirt / Nasty Gal sweater / Office boots / Proenza Schouler bag

A rare sunny day. I went to see the musical Rock of Ages because my dad was in town and he likes any 'rock' music experience that doesn't involve sweat and shoving. It wasn't really to my taste but I still enjoy any musical and of course it's always nice to spend time with family regardless of the activity. This sweater I'm wearing reminds me of one Stella McCartney did and I love how it mixes two of my favourite things at the moment, brocade and cobalt blue. Paired with a pleather skirt and my trusty Chloe inspired boots (which I must retire soon, they're starting to fall apart), I have my outfit for the day.

A nice surprise

I was wandering through Waterstone's bookshop in Trafalgar Square when I noticed a familiar face browsing through the Shakespeare section. Why hello James McAvoy, fancy seeing you here! He's one of my favourite actors, it was such a lovely coincidence.

Have you had any celebrity encounters?

candy bar creep show

Topshop parka / UNIF cake sweater / Topshop collared top (worn underneath) / River Island jeans / UNIF grim creepers

I know I overwear this parka but it's the warmest coat I have and the only thing that's keeping me alive right now. It's even been sporadically snowing! I've been layering up knits like a mad woman and this colourful sweater by UNIF is one of my favourites, perfect for injecting a bit (or maybe a lot depending on how you see it) of colour into a daily outfit.

Under Atomic Skies

Zara parka / ASOS sweater / Minkpink skirt / Topshop boots / Dolce & Gabbana bag

This will be another super quick outfit of the day post, it's been very windy and wet in London and I don't like taking photos indoors or with umbrellas. I managed to get this shot just before the rain started pouring again and my hair went frizz bomb. I picked up these boots from Topshop earlier this year and I'm surprised by how waterproof and non-slippery they are, even though there seems to be no visible tread on the bottom. I bought them for summer and it looks like I'll be wearing them throughout spring (or really winter here) instead.

varsity

UNIF dropout jacket / Topshop dress / Converse sneakers / Proenza Schouler bag / Dimepiece beanie

I was a little skeptical about my decision to not wear a coat on my first day back in London, but turns out this UNIF jacket was more than sufficient enough to keep me nice and warm. I've been apartment hunting non-stop this week but the exhaustion and sore feet have all been worth it because I finally found the perfect place! It's a little further from my college but the surroundings are less hustle bustle so that's a good aspect. I'm looking forward to moving in hopefully as soon as next week.

Airport

Nasty Gal sweater / UNIQLO shirt (worn underneath) / Black Milk leggings / Topshop boots

Just a super quick post today showing you what I wore to the airport. Excuse my haggard morning face, long haul flights are not my favourite pastime so dressing comfortably is important for me.
My go to ensemble always consists of an oversized top and leggings.

Do you have a go to airport outfit?

One Way Trigger

Topshop dress / UNIF boots / House of Harlow sunglasses / old cross necklace

So I recently bleached the ends of my hair again, I want to dye it a bright colour but I'm not sure which at the moment. Last year I had it turquoise, then green, then pink, then purple, then blue and now I want  something different but I can't think of any more colours I'd actually like that I haven't done (yellow or orange errr not keen). Maybe I'll do a pastel colour!

Have you ever dyed or dip-dyed your hair an unnatural shade?

Turquoise

Forever21 dress / UNIF flats / Tom Binns Alice in Wonderland bangle / Burberry charm watch / Prada bag

I landed in London last night but still have a few outfits from Singapore so please bear with me. Fun fact: my favourite colour since I was a little kid was turquoise. My girl friends thought I was weird because apparently pink and purple were the 'best' colours back then. Now I seem to gravitate towards turquoise items even unconsciously as I've accumulated a whole lot of aqua/mint clothing in my wardrobe and I can't remember how most of them got there.

New in - Marc by Marc Jacobs laptop case

I was in dire need of a laptop case, I've never actually owned one before and used to just slip mine in between my clothes in my luggage (don't judge haha) whenever I went travelling. As I'm hopping on a 15 hour flight tomorrow, I thought it was time to bite the bullet and give my macbook a little TLC. I seem to recall everyone carrying their iPads in a Marc by Marc Jacobs case last year but when I walked past the store, this neon yellow one almost blinded me and I knew it was the one for me.

Effy

Dangerfield t-shirt / Miss Selfridge skirt / Jeffrey Campbell Scrape sneaker / Tom Binns earrings

I love these sneakers so much, they're super comfortable to run errands in all day long plus have no laces so I can quickly slip in and out of them. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to pack them without scratching anything but also without a ton of bubble wrap taking up the luggage space... hmm.

Urban Decay Theodora palette

Urban Decay have released two limited edition eyeshadow palettes to coincide with the release of the new Disney film Oz the Great and Powerful. The Theodora palette and the Glinda palette have shades based on Mila Kunis' and Michelle Williams' characters respectively.

Out of the two I decided to get the Theodora palette as it had darker, warmer shades that I thought would be more suitable for my olive complexion. The palette consists of six eyeshadow pans, two of which are split into two shades, a mini version of their black 24/7 glide on eye pencil, and a super saturated high gloss lip colour in the limited edition shade Theodora. The packaging is a sturdy plastic reminiscent of their Naked 2 palettes and has a large mirror that spans the entire lid area. Each eyeshadow pan can easily be popped out and back in to be used singularly or put into a different UD palette.

Eyeshadow shades from left to right: Broken, Beware, Bewitch, West, Spell, Jealous

Swatched dry on bare skin in the same order.

The eyeshadows are soft and creamy to apply and quite pigmented in a single stroke. The sheerest shade is the black one in the Spell duo but this works well in my favour as I usually only use black shades to darken up the crease area.

The eye pencil is super soft and glides on like a dream. The UD 24/7 eye pencils have always been my favourite, their staying power is phenomenal even if you suffer from the occasional watery eye like me. The lip gloss is a cool toned red with a lot of colour pay off and shine.

Overall I really like this palette and can't wait to try and recreate Mila's lovely make up look.
