COSMO BLOG AWARDS 2014
I'm still not sure how this happened but since finding myself shortlisted for a Cosmo Blog Award for the second year in a row, the night of the awards was finally upon us! Once again held at the OXO tower overlooking the Thames river, I was super excited and a little nervous to see what the night would bring. I met up with Megan and Helen at the entrance and we made our way up to the second floor to discover that the set up looked completely different to last year (but a lot better in my opinion). After checking in our coats we took a wander around the room to see which brands were supporting the event and what they had to offer.
I always joke that a girl could arrive at the Cosmo Blog Awards with just their outfit on and they'd be set, there are always brands sponsoring the event that are on hand to do everything from hair and make-up to nails. There was even a temporary tattoo station that did gorgeous, intricate henna-like designs in silver or gold glitter. The bartenders whipped up delicious cocktails with pinky vodka and there were trays of assorted canapes doing the rounds. At around 8pm we were called into a separate room for the announcement of the winners. The Editor-In-Chief and Digital Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine called out the winner and runner-up of each category and personally handed each blogger with their award. I was so happy to hear that Megan won Highly Commended Best Beauty Blog, Thumbelina Lillie is one of my favourite reads and she's such a lovely girl, I honestly couldn't think of anyone more deserving.
After the ceremony was over, we headed back to the main area and proceeded to nibble on more food (the mini steak and chips were my favourite) and chat over champagne. It was so nice to catch up with Samantha and also finally meet Katie, who I've been following for the longest time and who's birthday it actually was that night too! Even though I left the awards empty handed, it certainly didn't feel that way at all and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted for me and helped get me this far. It honestly means the world to me that you even take the time out of your day to read this blog. To be shortlisted from over 43 000 blogs is just crazy (in the best possible way). So thank you again.
I thought I'd end the post with a few more detailed shots of my outfit in the natural light. My dress is vintage from Rokit, and my clutch and shoes are from ASOS (both seem to be sold out at the moment). I got quite a few questions on my hairdo and I simply pulled them into milkmaid braids, then pushed little diamante hair pins throughout. I loved how this whole look turned out, it was nice to play up the pastels for a special occasion and most importantly it all still felt very 'me'!
Photos with the Cosmopolitan backdrop were taken by Katie.
