Vintage dress via Beyond Retro / Chloe boots / Mulberry bag / Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Persimmon

So marks the start of my second LFW season. On the first day I decided to wear something comfy and very distinctively 'me' in the form of this vintage dress, with colours that I thought were perfectly autumnal and very fitting for this showcased season. I'm not the type who can navigate the cobblestones of Somerset House in heels or platforms so slipped on my trusty dusty Chloe Susannas to take me around the entire day. After spending some time around the square snapping photos and taking in all the awesome and inspiring street style (I even ran into the fabulous Zoe London, now with even dreamier hair than ever), I headed to my first show of the day, Mariana Jungmann.

Mariana Jungmann will always hold a special place in my heart as her SS15 show was the first ever catwalk I attended last season and I still remember the excitement I felt at the experience of taking my seat along the runway. Jungmann's Autumn/Winter 2015 collection is called Hypnagogia which is 'the state of paralysis between sleep and wakefulness that can be filled with vivid patterns and imagery'. This transitional state was the inspiration behind the entire collection. I've always loved contrasting textures so I was immediately drawn to the lace and leather combinations, the pieces boasting intricate laser cut outs and sharp embossments. Most of the collection was loose and fluid in silhouette as Jungmann wanted to neutralise any traditional gender styles. The colour palette was very natural with grey, camel, and teal mixed in with black and white, which also reflects her use of biodegradable materials such as cashmere, silk, lambskin and wool. The ensembles were completed with clean, slicked back, ombre hair on the models by Toni & Guy. I was seriously in love with this whole collection, I'm coveting that black leather skirt and fold-over clutch so badly.

Afterwards I made my way to Bloomsbury Place, where the Gyunel AW15 show was being held. It was dim in the venue, already setting the tone for her Post Apocalyptic Survivor collection. The show is opened by singer Ella Eyre, with a stripped down, acoustic version of her hit song Gravity. As the haunting melody neared its end, the first model appeared from the depths of the dark. For this, Gyunel wanted to tell the story of a 'post apocalyptic survivor deparately clinging onto memries of her past. Holding these memories strong and as the main theme of the collection, we travel through Gyunel's childhood in and out of famous novels and her vivid youthful imagination. We soar in and around statement buildings of Baku on a flying carpet, dodging, weaving, near missing running witches, chicken houses and aliens invading the city.' Baku (capital city of Azerbaijan) is where Gyunel was born and it's apparent in the structured shapes of the clothing as well as the prints, that she drew inspiration from the city's skyline. This collection was edgy and exuded a carefree attitude. Sporty neoprene was mixed with more rustic woven fabrics almost creating a seamless blend between future and past. It was a very interesting collection, a little out there for my taste but it certainly packs a punch and demands attention. I walked out of the show into a series of blinding camera flashes, turns out I had exited alongside Millie Mackintosh. I'm probably the only person in the UK who has never watched a single episode of Made in Chelsea hey?

What did you think of my day 1 outfit and which collection was your favourite?

Please pop over to my blog and tell me what you think, if you fancy!

  11. Aww yiisss, I was SO curious to see what you'd wear to LFW and you didn't disappoint. I absolutely love the vintage dress with the tough booties- contrasts like that make my heart sing. And how amazing was the collection?! I really enjoyed the sweeping, baggy shapes of some of the pieces. Those are my favorite kinds of dresses/ tops. I have a heavy H&M smock dress in a similar style and I wear it so much that it's embarrassing.
