CC jumper / ASOS Farleigh jeans / Adidas Superstars via ASOS / Wig from Etsy / Desiolens icy blue contacts

Ever since I first tried my hand at cosplaying last year, I haven't been able to go to a pop culture convention sans one. I used to just wear regular clothing (perhaps in a geeky print) to these events but now I almost feel like it's just no fun to attend without a costume! For Spring Comic Con this year, I decided I wanted to cosplay young Jean Grey from the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse film as she will be portrayed by Sophie Turner, who most of you know I'm a huge fan of. Problem was, at the time there was no real good look at her outfit in the movie, not even the trailer had come out so I tried to go off some on set photos of when they were filming. This is what I put together for Jean's casual look that can now be seen in the trailer and some official images: a grey and mint striped top (unfortunately lacking the super 80's puff sleeves but I had to make do with the time I had to prepare), some high-waisted blue jeans, and Adidas Superstars which I'm actually not sure whether she will wear in the film or if they were just Sophie's actual shoes in between takes haha. Of course the biggest part of my transformation would have to be the long red locks and luckily I found this wig on Etsy which seemed to be perfect for the job (as well as the function to double up for any Sansa Stark cosplays I might want to do in the future). This was my first time using a lace front wig but after watching a couple of YouTube tutorials, I figured out how to wear it without any problems and I ended up really loving how realistic it looked, especially along the hairline. To imitate her beautiful blue peepers, I simply used the same contact lenses I wore for my Dark Sansa/ Alayne Stone cosplay. I find Desiolens lenses to be quite comfortable to wear, plus they are available in a prescription if you're actually a day to day lens wearer like me. Going off this official still , I devised a bronze-y eyeshadow look using Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (shade Marzipan all over the lid, then Salted Caramel in the crease), put on a 'my lips but better' shade in the form of Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Lolita II, and last but not least, running an orange shadow through my brows so they'd match up more to my wig colour. This was definitely the most comfortable cosplay I've ever done and it was so nice to walk around a convention in jeans and trainers. I had an absolute blast as Jean Grey and even bumped into a Logan/WolverineNow to brainstorm ideas for my next cosplay... who should I transform into next?

If you cosplay, I'd love to know what your latest one was!
