I'd been looking for one of these belts since I first saw it on Luanna of Le Happy but at the time she'd listed it as vintage so I kind of thought it was a one off thing and swept it to the back of my mind but not long after I saw one on Bella Hadid! I didn't know how to describe it but luckily I stumbled upon one of my instagram mutuals who also owned one and she told me she got hers from Boohoo and that was the story of how I found this belt. Lately I've definitely noticed a bit more of a grunge and street element sneak it's way into my everyday style and taking a look at the snapbacks on pretty much every single mannequin on the highstreet shop displays at the moment, one might assume it's trend impact but to be completely honest it's probably, most likely Riz Ahmed's influence. Lol.

OUTFIT | PINK TRENCH

I was perusing Liv's blog one night and she'd just written a post on embracing wardrobe basics with an oh-so-chic ensemble featuring a trench coat. It suddenly dawned on me that I'd been moaning about my inability to dress weather appropriately these past few weeks, more specifically, constantly regretting my choice of outerwear (either lightweight parka, cardigan, or leather jacket on random rotation) due to the unpredictable temperature dips throughout the course of a day, when I had never owned a trench coat before. No wonder I was having this crisis, a trench would be the ideal spring jacket. 
Okay, so I had come to the conclusion that I needed a trench in my life but now the question was: how do I style one? Bizarre isn't it, to feel thrown out of my sartorial comfort zone by something so simple as a trench? Something about a regular beige trench just felt too masculine and posh for me, like perhaps Burberry models could make them look off-duty chic but I was convinced I would just end up emulating Inspector Gadget. Cue walking past a Zara shop front one day and the pink obsessed person I've recently become, I was immediately sucked in my this baby pink trench. I think the feminine shade perfectly balances out the more masculine shape I was previously so unsure of, it's the perfect matrimony. Gosh I remember when hanky hemline skirts were all the rage in my highschool days... restricted to a uniform, I used to bust them out every 'free-dress-day'. My favourite was a pink and white striped midi that I got from Supré (any Aussies feel me?) and I used to wear them with whatever Disney print tee my mum had given me at the time. So can you imagine my amusement when, fast forward a decade and I find myself wearing pretty much the same variation of said outfit? Bahhh, trends really do come around. I'd like to think I do a cooler rendition now though.

There really was a period of time where I fell out of love with vintage shopping. It's a lot more time consuming obviously and when there are too many things going on in your life already, you can barely muster up the energy. As the weather warms up and the layers are shed however, I tend to gravitate towards vintage dresses as I find it a lot more difficult to put together a unique outfit when there's less pieces of clothing involved to style up. I have to thank my friend who often drags me into vintage stores and sales with her. As soon as I start digging, I discover so many treasures and mentally kick myself for ever abandoning thrifting in the first place. This rainbow dress caught my eye on one of my recent escapades and I'm sure it will be on high rotation this summer.

Who said sequins were reserved for nighttime? I picked up this glitzy jumper in the & Other Stories sale, admittedly with no clue how I was going to go about styling it but something about the juxtaposition of sequins, racing stripes and a relaxed silhouette really drew me in, it's a very unique combination. I went the safe route and paired it with blue jeans here, which really helped to tone down the sparkle factor during the day.
