YOUTUBE | COLLECTIVE HAUL (ZARA, ASOS, VINTAGE ETC.)

I've gone and done some serious damage but I can justify it all with a haul video right?

OUTFIT | ACID FLORAL

ASOS top (sold out but now available in dress form) / Zara trousers / ASOS flats (similar)

Making a mental note to wear yellow out more often because not only does it literally inject a dose of brightness to a grey London day, I find that donning the hue actually physically lifts my spirits and hopefully has somewhat of a similar effect to those around me. Yellow is the colour of happiness after all. I'm in love with this top: it's outrageously beautiful with it's print, pleats, and clashing sequin tie and though I felt I could run the risk of looking too much like a clown, I paired it with these frilled hem faux leather trousers from Zara. Definitely a bit of a different look for me but I really like it.

An updated look at what I carry around day to day in my current bag of choice. I love this crossbody bag so much, I've worn it pretty much every single day since I got it for Christmas.

OUTFIT | OVER-THE-KNEE BOOTS FOR THICK CALVES

Growing up, I was never able to fit into knee-high or over-the-knee boots due to my large calves. Being a UK size 12-14, I've always had this problem where in general a size L would be too tight on my bottom half but plus sizes were too big. So I was balancing awkwardly between what's deemed 'regular' and 'plus' sized (which I'll probably talk about more in another blog post) but regardless, in terms of how boots were being designed and manufactured, apparently my calves were disproportionately wider than the rest of my legs. Last year when the black over-the-knee boot emerged and started having it's moment, I immediately shut down any notion of dipping my toes into the trend. That is until I saw blogger/youtuber Gracie Francesa style up a pair on her blog. She mentioned that these ones from ASOS somehow managed to fit her legs when no others had previously so I took the plunge and decided to order them and try them out. It's true, the ASOS ones were made of a stretchy faux suede material and I could hardly describe the feeling that came over me the moment I succeeded in pulling those boots up and over my calves.

Now that these sassy strutters are popping up all over the place, I'm pleased to find that ASOS currently stock a great range of wide fit over-the-knee boots to tickle every curvy gal's fancy. I thought I'd go with a nude colour for my second pair of OTKs: they look so nice over jeans and I'm already conjuring up some serious Parisian chic vibes with them styled under pink dresses and also imagining how leg-lengthening they'd be on bare legs over the warmer months. If you're like me and have struggled with buying high boots, I'd definitely recommend giving these types a go.

OUTFIT | FLORAL FIXATION

Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating when I purchase an item of clothing like this, very vintage style and inspired yet not actually vintage. You could probably find an almost identical dress for cheaper at a charity shop, the annoying hipster voice in my head whispers, plus it's not as cool if everyone else has the exact same dress... It's true, there's something I find extremely gratifying about going thrifting, especially when you come home with a one-of-a-kind bargain you've fallen head over heels in love with. On the other hand, it can be exhausting. In all honestly, I don't always have the time to go trawling through racks and racks of unsorted second hand clothing in the likes of Brick Lane. So as someone who's always been into more retro fashion and a granny chic aesthetic (I even considered labelling myself as a vintage style blogger when I first started this blog but thought it would just end up pigeonholing me), if I pass something vintage inspired that catches my eye on the high street, I would definitely still consider purchasing it.

H&M dress (old but similar) / ASOS belt / Miu Miu flats / & Other Stories hat

Case in point: this H&M dress. It's actually rather shapeless when unbelted but there was something about it with it's high neck, long sleeves, and gorgeous purple floral print that appealed to me much in the way that vintage dresses usually do. I absolutely love grunging up pieces like these so black accessories with metal hardware were a given for this look.

YOUTUBE | CHINESE NEW YEAR & ROGUE ONE COSPLAY (VLOG)

Last weekend was Chinese New Year so I decided to vlog what I got up to! Including loads of CNY festivities in London and my friends and I working on our Rogue One cosplays.

LIFESTYLE | GOD'S OWN JUNKYARD

I come across pictures of this neon haven every time I log onto Instagram. Artsy snaps from the bloggers I follow versus brands using it as a backdrop for their grungey photoshoots. It wasn't until my friend brought it up that I realised I should plan a trip there myself and experience this multicoloured madness in the flesh. God's Own Junkyard is basically a gallery of neon signs. Located in East London, the hypnotising collection is owned and curated by Chris Bracey, featuring an eclectic mix of vintage and newer signs, many even created by the man himself, using materials he finds. The space is simply a warehouse but around the back there are places to sit and a little coffee shop tucked away in the corner, perfect for a little tea and scone break. That's exactly what we did too, after I met up with Holly and Summer at the address and we took our time wandering around the place and taking photos.

I can definitely see the allure of a place like this, I've experienced anything quite like it. It's almost as if you've stepped into another dimension for a brief period of time. Although the low light meant that it was a bit more of a struggle for an amateur photographer like me to get a decent shot, it's worth it just for that unique atmosphere to immerse yourself in. Opening times and more information on their website here.
