I feel like the slogan tee has been trying to make a comeback for a while now but it was the moment that Dior debuted their SS17 collection, the first by a female designer at the brand, with a white t-shirt emblazoned with "We should all be feminists", that the trend really took off, spawning apparel that signalled girl power every direction you turned on the high street. Whilst I've always been a fan of styling basic tees with a more statement bottom, they've usually been more of the graphic print variety (shout out to the pile of Star Wars tees in my wardrobe). I just don't think I've felt hip enough to walk around with a witty or opinionated statement on my chest, I'd constantly wonder if people understood it, I mean, I don't even get half the slogan tees going around nowadays. However, upon spotting this "I'm not a rapper" top on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni, I thought it was too funny to pass up. Especially since I've suddenly become a bit of a rap music expert (see post here and apply sarcasm). I paired the black tee with a gingham (surprise surprise, the obsession is still going strong) trouser from ASOS that fits quite nicely due to it's tie waist, even if it does remind me of a picnic blanket. Accessories-wise, I took this Porky Pig bag I found in the Zara sale. I didn't realise that Zara had ever come out with a Loony Tunes collection and I can't say I'm really a fan of the cartoon anyway but I thought this would work well as the 'nude' bag I'd been missing from my wardrobe essentials whilst still possessing that quirky edge I constantly crave. I've also massively been into statement, dangly earrings these days, I love putting on a glitzy pair with a more casual outfit and playing with the whole juxtapositioning. The only thing is, they do tend to get heavy after a while and my ears ache so I've been guilty of whipping them off and stuffing them in my handbag only half way through the day.
